Economic Benefits

At a time of great economic uncertainty and high unemployment, The Village at San Antonio Center will be a new source of jobs and sales and property tax revenue for the City of Mountain View.

It is estimated that the new shopping center will create over 700 construction jobs and, upon completion, will provide approximately 800 employment opportunities, helping to protect the local economy.

The Village at San Antonio Center, to be built with no public assistance, represents a unique opportunity to substantially improve the retail and shopping experience in the City of Mountain View. As determined by a retail leakage study commissioned by the City of Mountain View, the city is losing millions of dollars annually in taxable sales revenue to neighboring communities. As a result, money earned by Mountain View residents is funding public services in other communities.

The Village at San Antonio Center will help reverse this trend so that local earnings are spent locally. It is estimated The Village at San Antonio Center will generate annually over $1.6 million in sales tax and over $400,000 in property taxes. The net benefit of revitalizing an aging shopping center to the City of Mountain View is over $1.3 annually in new revenue! This means even more revenue to fund local public services such as roads, parks, fire and police services, and neighborhood improvements.
